Voodoo Solar LLC -- Zephyr Power Vent Fans

Lead acid storage batteries (excluding sealed batteries) naturally emit hydrogen sulfide gas when they are under heavy discharge or when being charged above their "gassing voltage".  This gas is explosive, corrosive, and dangerous to breathe.  The usual remedy is to contain the batteries in an enclosure, and then use a power vent fan to exhaust those noxious gases to the outdoors.  Many inverters and charge controllers have built-in circuitry to turn the fan on when battery voltage exceeds a set level when the batteries begin to emit gas.  If you don't have such equipment, a separate control module is available for 12 and 24 volt systems.  Zephyr Power Vent fans are available in 12, 24, and 48 volt models.  They connect to 2" conduit for easy connection to your battery compartment.  The 48 volt model has a 2" inlet and 3" exhaust.  Go back to the battery page for current prices.
